The Battle’s Not Over

The road back to health was not quick and easy.  Life has a way of moving fast and taking unexpected turns.  My husband’s open heart surgery two months after my last PET scan hit hard.  Again, the Lord gave strength and peace through all the new paths we were traveling.

Now, I can see how God prepared me for the health battles.  What the enemy planned for harm, God used for His glory.  Without my cancer journey, I would have been lost in the medical jungle because being sick was not me.  My experience gave me confidence in God and the ability to speak up when my husband’s condition was not being addressed properly.  Determined that we both would be well again, I trusted God.  He gave me ideas to try when the going got rough.  The heart surgeon said he had given my husband at least five more years, but after ten years his heart is still going strong.  Our current doctor says to keep doing what we are doing, it is working.  He knows the medicine he prescribed has not done it because we gave that up years ago.  All credit goes to our Heavenly Father.  As the doctor said this last visit, “The Lord must have things for you to do yet, because you should have been dead by now.”

“Seventy years are given to us.  Some even live to eighty.  But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear and we fly away.  Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we grow in wisdom.  And may the Lord our God show us His approval and make our efforts successful.  Yes, make our efforts successful.”  Psalm 90:10,12,17 NLT

And we are shouting “Glory”!
