“Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what He did for me.” Psalm 66:16 NLT
The doctor’s call confirmed cancer had reared its ugly head. The surgeon recommended two oncologists. Insurance included one of them but she was booked several weeks out. Back to the insurance, more calls yielded an appointment two weeks away. Next was the hard part, telling my children.
Praying for the right words, I told our son. He agreed to not say anything to his sisters until I could tell each one. They were all so busy with their jobs and families, how could I tell them without one of them calling the other before I did? Since they all used email every day, it was the best way to tell them the same message. Phone calls ensued as expected. All four of them reacted differently yet so much the same. They were all going with me to the oncologist. They wanted to meet the doctor and hear firsthand what was said.
Now I could relax and breathe, they knew. No more secrets.
“I lie awake thinking of You, meditating on You through the night. Because You are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. I cling to You; Your strong right hand holds me securely.” Psalm 63:6-8 NLT
